At Universe, we are a DAO— Decentralized Autonomous Organization. From inception, the project has maintained the DAO first approach. Co-founders from Universe, other vocal participants and ecosystem builders created the idea and launched it.

Barnbridge is a primary example of the DAO first approach, and the xyzDAO gets powered by the same contracts. (Aside from minor adjustments)

A unique component of a DAO is community governance. Tokens with governance powers grant the ability for members of the greater ecosystem to participate in the voting process and protocol development at the smart contract level.

Votes go through similar processes as typical bureaucratic procedures with likewise outcomes. Ideas, features and plans get put forth through structured proposals. When a decision reaches a majority and surpasses a quorum, a proposal makes their way on-chain and later affect the protocol direction.
